Jade Bi Disc Necklace

A ring of jade with an open centre.

The bi disc is one of the oldest forms in Chinese jade, carved and buried with the dead for four thousand years before anyone thought to wear one. The hole at its middle stands for heaven, and for a way through: nothing blocked, nothing closed off. It is the piece people tend to reach for at the start of something, a new job, a move, a year they want to go differently.

It comes in light and dark green jade, each disc different in its mottling.
