Cinnabar is the fire-red stone of the Chinese tradition, long worn to guard vitality and keep good fortune close. Its colour alone was considered protective, the red that meets whatever the day brings.
The Tiger stands for courage and authority, the sign traditionally worn to push back ill fortune and walk in first. It is the guardian sign of those born in 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010 and 2022.
On the back sits Akasagarbha (虚空藏菩萨), the guardian Buddha of the Tiger among the eight zodiac protectors, keeper of wisdom and treasure as boundless as the open sky.
